MUSIC WITH MR HAY
Hello everyone!
I’m really looking forward to music this year with more opportunities to create, sing, move, dance along to and play music with the students at Molesworth.
To start the year we have focussed on how to respectfully use the instruments in class. Years 3 to 6 will also spend time developing their ukulele skills to use along with our xylophones. Everyone is also working on their singing, developing their rhythm skills, and note reading knowledge. As the year progresses we will have access to more instruments to use which will enable us to be even more creative after we move back up into the hall.
Music is great for kids’ development and learning as it taps into their creativity, teamwork, sharing and cross-body motor skills engaging all the senses while they learn. If your child gets the opportunity to learn an instrument it’s a great thing they can do and many studies have shown learning a musical instrument helps across all learning areas.
A few questions for the kids and parents….
- Why do we have the colour stickers on the xylophones and ukuleles? There’s a few reasons why.
- What are these music symbols called?
Can you have a think about them and tell me in music next time everyone?
