PRINCIPAL'S REPORT
FROM OUR PRINCIPAL MRS LEANNE SMITH
A very busy next two weeks with our classes taking part in their first MEC excursions for the year. As always children come back after a day in the bush with so many positive and informative things to say about the day. We are so lucky to have the environment centre as part of our school.
Trading Cards at School:
There are a number of students bringing trading cards including Pokemon cards to school to play with at break times. The nature of the game is about trading cards. If you do not want your child to trade cards when playing please make sure this is fully understood by your child. We are monitoring how they are used and at the moment we are happy for them to be used during break times. If you have any concerns about how they are used at school I am happy to meet with you about it.
We are slowly seeing more and more of the outside area being completed. Unfortunately, there has been a number of hold ups with suppliers, all trades are finding it very difficult to get supplies, especially one off specific items like the hand rails for the ramps and stairs which all have to be individually made. Hopefully by the next newsletter most of the outside space will be completed including new pathways, garden areas and screening in front of the student toilets.
Two events not to miss so make sure the dates are marked in your calendar:
Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th May.
Wednesday 5th May –Luke Kennedy, Inspirational Speaker: 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm in the hall (Dulcie Doman):
Through the generous support of our School Association we are very fortunate to have Luke Kennedy speaking at our school. (See additional article for more information).
Thursday 6th May – Open Classroom morning:
Now all classes are settled in their new spaces we are welcoming families to come in for the morning session to work with their child and share in their learning in their class. The new library space will be open from 8:20 am for all parents with their children to come in to share a story and any of the activities set up for the day. We will then have the classrooms open from 9:00 am until 10:00 am for you to share with your children.
The coffee van will be here so buy yourself a coffee and come and share this amazing school environment with your children. The theme for these sessions will be around mindfulness, emotional intelligence and developing a growth mindset.
No need to book simply mark in your diary and we would love to see you here.
