PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

FROM OUR PRINCIPAL MRS LEANNE SMITH

Wow, how quickly Winter has come this week.  As the mornings are so chilly children are more than welcome to wear coats over their school uniform but please check they have their school jumper on as well.  There are still many lost jumpers at school so please check lost property if you are missing one.

This week and last, all teachers have been busy with parent teacher meetings.  These meetings are so beneficial for both teachers and parents to support the very best for your child.  If you have not yet made a time there are still times available.  If you are not able to make a time this week your child’s teacher will touch base with you via a phone call before the end of term.

Our outdoor pinboards are now up and children are busy preparing their work to share on these boards. All classes have been discussing what children want and need to be happy, healthy, secure and to have the very brightest futures Tasmania can offer them.  We began with a book titled – “When I wake up I smile…….” With the focus on doing things together.  Please take time to learn from the voices of our children about what makes them smile.  There are so many wonderfully positive comments about who is important to them.

MINI OLYMPICS – WEDNESDAY 30th JUNE

Next week as a fun way to complete the term of PE Miss Gourlay and Mrs Wiseman have been busy planning a PE session incorporating being an Olympian.  The focus of the session is all about participation, team support, doing your best and having fun.  All children have been put into a country group and we are asking if they have a t-shirt of that colour to wear on the day.  The countries are Australia (Green/Gold), Japan (White), Greece (Blue) and France (Red).  Japan being the current country, Greece the original, France the next country and Australia being us.  Your children know what colour to wear but if they are not sure please check in with their class teacher.  The session is from 11:00 am until 12:30 pm next Wednesday and parents are welcome to watch.  This is not about competition with winners and ribbons.  The activities are team based focusing on full participation.  To finish all children will receive a mini olympic ribbon.  If you would like to attend, please check in at the office before coming down to the oval.  There won’t be an area set up for parents, you are welcome to go to where your children are to watch them participate.

As this is the last newsletter for the term I would like to thank everyone for a great term at Molesworth and hope everyone enjoys the 2 week break with their kids.  Term 3 begins on Tuesday 20th July.
