YEAR 5-6 SQUASH HPE EXCURSION WITH MISS GOURLAY
Squash is not just a fruit; it is also a popular international sport played in over 150 countries by 20 million people!! As part of our racquet sport focus this term, on Wednesday 9th June the year 5/6 students went to the Bellerive Squash Centre to try their skills at squash. No one from the 5/6 class had ever tried squash before so they were going in very excited and nervous!
The activities included a time trial testing our agility skills reaching all 6 points of the squash court, serving within the lines on the wall trying to win points and rallying and hitting modified squash balls.
Here are some comments from some 5/6 students about squash:
Declan – I liked hitting the soft squash balls.
Alexia – I enjoyed the time trial activity.
Dante – The squash chair was cool with all the racquets!
Meghan – my favourite activity was when we had to push all the soft squash balls to the other side.
Darcy – it was fun because we got to rotate around different activities.
