PRINCIPALS'S REPORT

FROM OUR PRINCIPAL MRS LEANNE SMITH

As we head into the last half of Term 4 we see on the calendar the year getting extra busy.  Please make sure you regularly check our calendar with upcoming events which can be accessed via our webpage, the newsletter and the SZapp app.

SWSP and MAST:

Last week we completed our Swimming and Water Safety Program for the year and yesterday we had the MAST (Marine and Safety Tasmania) program presented to our children in PE.  Both these programs give our children a great understanding and new set of skills to employ when around water, to stay safe not just over summer but all year.  Thanks to Miss Gourlay for the coordination of the program and the organisation of the MAST session.

SPSSA INTERSCHOOL SWIMMING:

Last Thursday we had our Interschool Swimming Carnival with all students giving 100% effort in each race.  Congratulations to 9 of our students who have been invited to participate in the Champions Carnival next Tuesday 23rd November.  Good luck to each of them.

SCHOOL ASSOCIATION:

Tuesday 30th November at 4:30 pm in the staff room is our final School Association meeting for the year.  If you have any thoughts or ideas that you would like discussed please have a conversation with any of our parent reps, Jess, Anna, Andy, Tonie and Kara.  You are also more than welcome to attend any of the meetings.

BAGS OF HOPE:

Thanks to the SRC for organising the Bags of Hope event.  We have attached the list of ideas again and anything you are able to send along to add to the bags will be very much appreciated.

FRONT OF SCHOOL:

The front of the school continues to be worked on. A very big thank you to all vehicles coming into the turning circle for your patience and care as we organise children safely around this space each afternoon.  We should see the paths being poured early next week and the works finished by the middle of the week.  It is going to be so much better for the movement around the front of the school and look really great all tidied and neat.

CLASSES FOR 2022:

As we head to the end of the year we are beginning to look at class structures for next year. Student placement takes into consideration teacher judgement and observations about:

  • The needs of the child (educational, social, emotional and behavioural)
  • The balance of student abilities within the class

We value the support of our parent community and give you the opportunity to provide information in writing which you believe the school needs to know that will help in placing your child for 2022.  Please email or send a letter to myself of your request by Friday 26th November.  The information given will be kept confidential and considered along with all other relevant information in this process but cannot be guaranteed.
