This term a focus of our numeracy program has been the measurement of length.

We have been ordering and comparing the length of objects, we’ve been measuring with metre rulers, string, our feet, our handspans, blocks and other classroom items.

All the students are encouraged to make an estimation before measuring and think about the reasonableness of their estimation. We are getting very accurate in this!

We have been practising recording our measurements and making sure we indicate what we used to measure with.

Next term we will investigate the measurement of weight.
