TASMANIAN HOCKEY CENTRE EXCURSIONS
On Tuesday 29th of March our Year 2/3 and 3/4 classes visited the Tasmanian Hockey Centre in New Town and yesterday it was our 4/5 and 5/6 classes turn!
For some of our students it was their first time out at the centre. Some students were surprised at how big it actually is standing on the field compared to when you drive past it and see it from the highway.
We tested out our hockey skills, using hockey sticks out on the turf and had the opportunity to be coached by some Tasmanian accredited coaches. We would like to thank Tania and the coaches for organising such fun and new experiences for our students. Thank you to our parent helpers who assisted us!
Here are some comments from our Year 2/3 students:
- Hailey – I liked when we played hockey with the ball.
- Ella – I enjoyed learning new skills like being able to find open areas on the field
- Grace – Our team got lots of points in the game when we had to shoot the hockey ball in between the cones.
- Sonny F – Playing the ‘Numbers’ game and whacking it through people’s legs was so much fun.
- Darcy – My favourite part was when we were split up into groups. It was hard trying to take the ball off your friends.
- Divinia – I liked hitting the ball to Breeah.
- Chelsea – I love to tackle!
- Hugh – It is interesting to me because we’ve played the ‘Numbers’ game before but for Soccer.
