NATIONAL HEALTH & PHYSICAL EDUCATION DAY 2022
This year our Health & Physical Education (HPE) Day celebrations included a variety of different games and activities! The focus of the day was for all of our student to try some new sports and games, work together and have fun! To tie in with our tennis unit, all classes participated in visual impaired Tennis activities. Visual impaired Tennis often called Soundball Tennis is played on either a badminton court or a standard tennis court using junior tennis rackets and an adapted sponge ball that makes a noise when it bounces! It is such a challenging sport, and all of our students had a go, it was amazing to our students supporting each other! After having a go at this sport, each class played a variety of games and activities, we haven’t played before. Our early childhood classes used our parachutes and played ‘winner winner chicken dinner’. We played noodle tag and mystery tag! Our upper primary students had a quick skills session of lacrosse before getting into a fast-paced game. We also played some tee-ball!
Let’s hear from some of our superstar active students about what they enjoyed the most in their PE lesson on National Health and Physical Education Day for 2022:
Let’s hear from some of our superstar active students about what they enjoyed the most in their PE lesson on National Health and Physical Education Day for 2022:
- Kobe - I liked mystery tag. It was fun not knowing who tagged you.
- Chelsea - I liked the visually impaired tennis game because I like tennis and listening for the bell in the ball was fun.
- Selina - My favourite game was the catching and throwing nets. It was fun to open them quickly and try to catch the ball.
- Archie - my favourite was net catching because I liked seeing the ball fly high into the sky.
- Ella B - Mystery tag was my favourite. You had to run away after you were tagged. I never got tagged!
- Freya - visually impaired tennis was fun but hard when people talked because bits of noise cancelled the sound of the tennis ball with bells inside
- Breeah - noodle tag was really fun how we got to tap the people. I was a tagger. I had 30 seconds to tag everyone!
- Braden - Catching with the net was fun because I like marking things from up high.
- Joseph - I very much enjoyed tee ball! It was challenging because the ball was small! It had lots of fun around all the games!
- Addison - The activities were good! The ball in tee ball was very light. It was the first time I tried tee-ball!
- Ellis - It was cool how we mixed it up and we used 6 bases instead of 4. I found tee-ball fun!
- Lana - I found tee-ball abit hard to hit the ball because the bat was abit heavy! It was heavier than it looked. The running was fun!
- Seth - It was the first time I played tee-ball! I really enjoyed it. I enjoyed how there were more bases, it was harder with 6!
- Ethan - visually impaired tennis was my favourite because it was extremely fun!
- James - lacrosse was really fun. I like playing new and different games I haven’t tried before!
- Kyeshia - visually impaired tennis because it has a bell inside and you have to listen.
- Finn - I found visually impaired tennis my favourite from today. People couldn’t see anything. The guides gave you the ball and directed you were to aim.
- Myler - I enjoyed lacrosse! It was fun but challenging not to step on the ball as we were scooping it up.
- Violet - I liked throwing the ball in lacrosse, it was fun!
