AFL TASMANIA COACH VISIT
In PE over the last two weeks, we have been super lucky to have Joe from AFL Tasmania come out to Molesworth Primary and run AFL Tasmania’s North Melbourne Football Club Next Generation School Program with us. Some of our students recognised Joe from AFLX which is a free afterschool program offered in the Derwent Valley on Thursday afternoons from 3:30 pm-4:30 pm at Tynwald Park. If your child/children is keen we would encourage you to try this out! It is a great program for students to practise and further develop their AFL skills and to apply them in modified games. Please see flyer below:
AFL has definitely been a popular recess and lunch time activity on our oval with our roster and big tall white posts!
It was great to have Joe come and assist us further develop our AFL skills through playing many new activities and games! Joe is involved with AFLX and has been involved with AUSKICK so it was great that he could share his knowledge of football and football skills and games with our students. We practised hand balling, ball movement, communication, listening, cooperation, game play, marking, dodging and kicking skills. We played many new different games! For our Preps and new students, it was the first time some of them had kicked and handballed a football. We had some very excited students!
In the future, with the recently announced AFL/AFLW Tasmania team, we may indeed see some talent from Molesworth so keep your eyes opened!
I would also like to say a big thank you to our school community for always kicking/throwing the balls back onto our school oval after they have found their way over the fence near the road. Particularly during our AFL unit in the year but also throughout the year with various equipment, so thank you, we really appreciate it!
