MOLESWORTH PRIMARY YEAR 4-5 MOUNT FIELD NATIONAL PARK - FRIDAY 7 AUGUST, 2020
On 7 August, Year 4-5 students will be going on an excursion to Mt Field National Park to study the fungi and plant life with Mr Felmingham and Mrs MacGregor from the Molesworth Environment Centre. They will investigate along the Russell Falls track and the Tall Trees Walk.
They will be leaving school at 8:45 am as soon as the bell goes, so they can travel up in good time and make the most of their day. If you would like to join us please let me know ASAP as there are limited spaces on the bus.
Remember to please sign in at the School Office before 8:45 am, as it is a requirement for all volunteers to have their RWVP (Working With Vulnerable People) Card which needs to be sighted and you will be given a lanyard for the day to hold your card in. Also, a COVID-19 Visitor Health Screening Form needs to be completed before leaving.
When they arrive, Mr Felmingham and Mrs MacGregor will talk to the children all about what they will be studying. The will each work with a group of students, with plant and fungi “flip guides” and magnifying lupes to help identify.
The aim is to take their time when walking and really look at the variety of plants, where they grow, and also the places we find fungi. School iPads may be used on the excursion as they want as many photos taken as possible so they can continue their studies back at school over the next few weeks. You never know, they may discover a new species!!
Things to remember: A packed lunch and water bottle; wet weather gear, long trousers and socks tucked over trousers so those leeches don’t get a look in!; an inquiring mind and a great attitude!
Permission slips have been sent home and need to be returned to school no later than Thursday 6 August to all participation in this excursion.
