MOLESWORTH CROSS COUNTRY CARNIVAL & SPSSA CROSS COUNTRY CARNIVAL
Our School Cross Country Carnival was held last Tuesday 28th May and what a day of amazing participation we had from our students! Leading up to the carnival each class discussed created goals for our carnival and discussed what individual goals might look like. Some students shared their goal of wanting to complete the track, for these students their race included mainly walking, jogging and a little bit of running. Other students shared their goal of wanting to make our school team, for these students their race included some walking but mainly jogging and running. A fantastic effort from all our students on the day, most achieving their set goal.
It was great to see our families and school community come out in the cold to cheer on our students!
My Dad always tells me the hardest part of a job is the preparation. To make our school carnivals a success there is a lot of background preparation from many different people. Thank you to Mr Rogers for assisting me in organising our school equipment to the hall the day prior to our carnival. Thank you to Trish for her amazing help in setting up the gazebos and tarps in the rain with 15 sheep grazing around us on the Molesworth Recreation Ground. Thank you to Mrs Dillon and Mrs Baker for organising things in the office. And to our staff for their support of our carnival. Our sport leaders also assisted in setting up on the day and were an incredible help with our P/1 and 1/2 students, even helping out during our PE lessons.

From our school carnival we were able to put together a team of over 35 students to represent Molesworth at the Division B Cross Country Carnival. This interschool carnival was actually held today! The students showed great resilience today; coming to the grounds of Bayview Secondary College, competing against 18 other Southern Primary School teams, running on some boggy muddy terrain and still trying their hardest for the team. Congratulations to each and every one of these students, demonstrating a great level of resilience. It was fantastic to see our school community make the commute all the way to the Eastern Shore to support our kids!
I would also like to congratulate our Year 6 girl team, Haley, Charlotte, Ashley, Freya and Oaklahn. From 19 schools they placed 4th place overall. A fantastic achievement. These students each received a ribbon plus the school receives a pennant. I will put this up in our hall with our other cross country pennants. The last pennant we received was in 2021, for Year 3 girls, which are our current Year 6 girls!
Thank you to Mr Jelkic for volunteering as our school official. In a long event, it is always great to have a supportive cheer from a familiar face, thanks Mr Jelkic. And to Mrs Binning, Mrs Rime and Mrs Watson for assisting our team!
